Located upstairs at Town Creek Marina in Beaufort, The Sandbar Restaurant offers diners fabulous food in a breathtaking setting. It opened its doors in 1998, and is currently celebrating 10 years of the best views and dining that Beaufort has to offer. A welcome anniversary addition to the Tiki Bar is a new steamer menu. We have added oysters, shrimp and blue crab to our selection of menu items at the Tiki Bar. A number of our clients enjoy sitting on the decks for hours, and it occurred to us that steamers would be an easy way to serve them, says Claire Tulevech, Sandbar owner. Live entertainment on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is another great reason to visit the Tiki Bar. There is no greater dining view in the Beaufort area. Tiki Bar-flies, and Sandbar diners catch glimpses of dolphins playing in the water for amusement, while watching boats come-and-go with their catches. Relaxing views of the marina, Gallants Channel and The Grayden Paul drawbridge often change with evening colors of red and gold, offering diners spectacular sunsets. Sandbar Chef Todd Barnes is eagerly preparing special menu items for Summer season visitors. A NC native, Todd has the benefit of early training at several local Carteret County restaurants and later from living and working in southern California. Todd also appears at the Tiki bar on Hot Toddys Thirsty Thursday with his band FREE POUR. $1 draft, $5 well drinks, $12 lb steamed shrimp and a late night tiki appetizer menu. Culinary Institute of America (CIA) trained chef Chris Held manages the dining room. Looking after Sandbars guests is a pleasure, so please let him know of any special requests you may have. And, if you are eager to try the new menu, please sample one of these wonderful dinner entrees. Stuffed Grouper - Fresh grouper stuffed with smoked shrimp and scallops. Finished with crabmeat and a sherry cream sauce over parmesan chive whipped potatoes. Low Country Shrimp & Scallops - Fresh sea scallops and local shrimp pan sautéed with pancetta ham and shaved Vidalia onions. Served with pan-fried jalapeño cornbread. Carpetbagger - New York Strip, grilled to your perfection, topped with sautéed shrimp, scallops and melted sharp cheddar cheese. The Sandbar is continuing to accept limited reservations for private parties, weddings and rehearsal dinners during the summer season.
